Test riding bikes is no easy business. What if the bike has some glitch? A wheel may fly off or the brakes may not work; and you may be going at the highest speed ever known to man and crash into a wall of metal and concrete! No wonder it takes a man of steel to test a fast bike..literally.
Castrol introduces us to its best and most wanted test rider, Flossie. Flossie is a hunk of man-built lord-knows-what making him the most wanted test riding robot Castrol has ever known. According to Castrol, Flossie is vital in the testing of bikes with increased acceleration or power. Flossie tests bikes that are basically in stationary mode (so, no crashing into walls, I just made that up). It also runs on a self-learning mode which means he can learn the gear change pattern, clutch feel, etc, of the bikes that he is riding. The best thing about Flossie is that he’s not even on the Castrol payroll..
The ultimate in test riding bikes, Flossie can work under any temperature, for any duration of time and under the pressure of having to test a long list of bikes. And, the only thing that Flossie demands in exchange for all this is the chance to change his name. No wonder.
